A day long workshop at the international gathering Braids 2025.. An exploration of innovation in fiber arts. The workshop leads participants through several exercises that expand their understanding of their medium and how to express themselves. It focuses on how to look critically at their own work and others.
A day-long workshop at the International Conference Braids 2025 at Case Western Reserve, Cleveland, Ohio. Using traditional methods of hand-making complex tassels using skirt boards, turned molds, and braided hanging cords, beautiful unique tie-backs will be created.
This workshop will explore making a piece of art that includes kumihimo braids. Three Zoom sessions will include lectures, group exercises and discussion. An individual project to create a collage or sculpture including braids spans the 2 week length of the workshop. The focus is the creative process with all its thrills and spills. Workshop scheduled for the 4th international interlacing conference, Braids2019, in IGA Japan. Participants will explore combining braids to make original expressive work.
